CAS Senior

Our CAS team is in search of a Senior-level candidate to join the group. The CAS Senior is responsible for supporting a full range of services, including, but not limited to, overseeing Virtual and CAS staff, preparing/compiling GAAP and tax basis financial statements, and preparing/reviewing payroll and property tax returns.
 
Responsibilities include:
Manage accounts payable function for multiple clients:
  • Strong knowledge of Accounts payable in various software programs and the ability to troubleshoot issues. 
  • Review staff reconciliations of multi-transactional vendor invoices.
  • Review the month-end close and required reporting including performing a reconciliation of the AP detail report to the general ledger AP balance.
  • Support general accounting functions as needed; strong knowledge of Excel required.
  • Train staff on AP reconciliations. 

Manage accounts receivable function for multiple clients:
  • Strong knowledge of Accounts receivable in various software programs and the ability to troubleshoot issues.
  • Review month-end close and required reporting including performing a reconciliation of the AR detail report to the general ledger AR balance.
  • Knowledge of sales tax requirements for Georgia, ability to research sales tax requirements for other states. 
  • Prepare or review sales tax returns. 
  • Train staff on AR reconciliations.

Other areas of responsibility:
  • Troubleshoot any issues with bank reconciliations.
  • Oversee all general ledger reconciliations and prepare journal entries.
  • Train and become proficient in Sage Intacct, NetSuite, QBO, QuickBooks desktop, Bill.com, and other software applications.
  • Assist in the client on-boarding process including developing financial reports, KPIs, and client dashboards.
  • Knowledge of federal and state payroll tax requirements.
  • Prepare or review annual 1099 forms, quarterly payroll and household payroll tax returns. 
  • Prepare or review Business personal property tax returns. 
  • Prepare or review Freeport exemption returns. 
  • Prepare GAAP and income tax basis financial statements.
  • Prepare compiled GAAP and Income tax basis financial statements.
  • Prepare footnotes to financial statements.
  • Other projects and functions, as requested.

In addition, the qualifications needed include:
  • 6-8 years of relevant experience. 
  • Very organized, with strong time management skills. 
  • Intermediate level PC skills with focus on Excel (including pivot and VLOOKUP).
  • Experience with various versions of QuickBooks, Sage Intacct and NetSuite.
  • Excellent attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy. 
  • Ability to prioritize effectively and meet tight monthly deadlines. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Good judgment skills and ability to know when to escalate an issue to the manager on a client account.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.


SGA Experienced Associate

Strategic Growth Advisory (SGA) is looking for an experienced candidate to join their fast-growing group. The SGA team helps high-growth companies with strategic support, including onboarding institutional capital, mergers and acquisitions, developing long-term strategic plans, and navigating complex transactions. This Experienced Associate team member will be responsible for a full range of services and will support the team with client accounting aspects of each engagement. SGA does not do typical accounting assistance with each engagement. This role will work with clients across the nation and internationally in industries such as manufacturing, distribution, technology, professional services, and health care.  
 
Responsibilities include:
Accounts payable and receivable management
  • Strong knowledge of A/P and A/R and able to troubleshoot issues.
  • Review staff reconciliations.
  • Support month-end close end reporting.

Support all general accounting functions as needed
  • Troubleshoot any issues with bank reconciliations.
  • Troubleshoot any issues with ledgers.
  • Prepare journal entries.
  • Strong technical accounting skills, with detailed knowledge of GAAP.
 
Reporting
  • Create KPI reports or dashboards.
  • Create a financial package from what a client determines is necessary or required.
  • Adjust reports to meet client’s needs.

Applications
  • Understanding of multiple accounting software systems.
  • Understanding of Account Payable/Receivable software systems.

In addition, the qualifications needed include:
  • 2-3 years of relevant experience.
  • Degree in Accounting, Business Management, or closely related field.
  • Experience with various versions of QuickBooks.
  • Proficient with PC environments and related software, including Microsoft Office and advanced skills in Excel/PowerPoint.
  • Proficient use and analysis of computer models and development of dynamic spreadsheet applications.
  • Very organized, with strong time management skills.

State and Local Tax Manager

Our tax team is in search of an experienced State and Local Tax Manager.
 
Responsibilities of this position include:
  • Interact closely with clients to provide innovative tax planning, consulting, and compliance expertise.
  • Conduct primary and secondary review of complex income tax returns including Corporate, S-Corp, and partnership clients.
  • Conduct research and analysis of a wide range of tax issues related to state and local tax laws and regulations.
  • Serve as a SALT technical resource, collaborating with team to review client issues and recommend solutions.
  • Motivate and mentor staff members by providing them with leadership, counselling, and professional guidance.
  • Start to develop new business relationships with potential clients and company personnel to grow Windham Brannon’s clientele base and work to foster on-going efforts to obtain additional opportunities for the Firm.

In addition, the skills and qualifications needed include:
  • A minimum of 5 years of SALT experience in Public Accounting at the Senior or Manager level.
  • An active CPA license.
  • Prior experience supervising tax professionals on a project or engagement basis. 
  • Experience with clients in a variety of industries including manufacturing, construction, retail, restaurant, etc.


Tax Controversy Manager

Our tax team is in search of an experienced Tax Controversy Manager.
 
Responsibilities of this position include:
  • Assist client and Windham Brannon client service team with management of IRS and state audits, including responding to Information Document Requests, Notices of Proposed Adjustments, and other exam related matters.
  • Interact closely with clients and interface on their behalf with federal and state taxing authorities.
  • Research various tax matters and draft technical memoranda to support tax return reporting positions relating to IRS Information Document Requests, Notices of Proposed Adjustments, Protests of Proposed Examination Changes, Private Letter Rulings, and penalty abatement requests.
  • Manage and implement multiple projects simultaneously, which include client interviews, analysis, data gathering, and coordination of Windham Brannon and client resources.
  • Supervise, develop, and mentor junior staff members by providing them with leadership, counselling, and professional guidance.
  • Develop and expand new business relationships with potential clients and company personnel to grow Windham Brannon’s client base and work to foster on-going efforts to obtain additional opportunities for the Firm.

In addition, the skills and qualifications needed include:
  • At least seven (7) years of experience with the Internal Revenue Service or seven (7) years of public accounting experience with a focus on tax controversy.
  • An active CPA license.
  • Strong understanding of the operations of the IRS, its procedures and processes, including extensive working knowledge of the IRS Integrated Data Retrieval System (“IDRS”).
  • Tax research including the ability to research and understand the IRS methods of account resolution, desk guides, and the Internal Revenue Manual (“IRM”).
  • Professional demeanor and strong communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management.
 

Assurance Senior

Our Assurance department is in search of a Senior to add to the team. A Senior at WB typically has 3-7 years of experience in public accounting. A CPA is not required for this level but is encouraged and necessary for promotion to the next level.

 

Responsibilities of this position include:

  • Conduct all phases of audit, review, and compilation engagements including planning, risk assessment, research, reporting of findings, and other procedures as required.
  • Prepare workpapers to document scope and findings of the engagement in accordance with AICPA standards.
  • Drafting financial statements and related financial statement disclosures in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Supervising, training, and mentoring associates and interns on engagements.

 

In addition, the skills needed include the ability to:

  • Complete assignments, tasks, and project components in a timely, accurate, and budget-conscious manner.
  • Coach and direct team members in meeting client and self-development expectations.
  • Keep the engagement manager and partner aware of engagement progress.

Assurance Experienced Associate

Responsibilities of this position include:

  • Effectively communicating with clients to receive information necessary to complete the engagement with minimum disruption to the client.
  • Prepare workpapers to document scope and findings of the engagement in accordance with AICPA standards.
  • Performing other accounting, auditing, and consulting duties as needed in engagements and as assigned by supervisory personnel.
